The ADU HOU Initiative is an effort to promote and educate the public regarding alternate housing options. An ADU is basically a tiny house that can be built in back yards to offer additional affordable housing to communities. ADU HOU was conceived as a series of workshops, hosted by the City of Houston, to help the public understand how and why they might consider building an ADU on their property.
In addition to the workshops, the City hosted a design competition with the promise of sharing all of the architectural submissions with the public in the form of a downloadable file, or as a hard cover book. I was asked to drive the campaign, developing the visual direction for all the materials, promote the workshops, and master plan the book design, edit the content, and to coordinate the production and printing.
