Forest West is a mid-century neighborhood in NW Houston. I am a resident and a member of the civic association. A few years ago a number of residents including myself, were interested in updating the original deed restrictions and decided to undertake a rewrite and redesign. A natural outgrowth of this effort was a campaign to convince 66%+ of the neighborhood to vote in favor of these new restrictions. I took on the task of conceptualizing, and building out a campaign, assisting in the rewrite of the rules, and designing all the materials (in my spare time). After more than 2 years of writing, editing, legal input, designing, campaigning and voting, we were able to accomplish what have failed twice before, a new, updated, sensible set of deed restrictions, along with a cohesive visual identity for the neighborhood of Forest West.
